Bernard F. Ide Jr.

Bernard (Skip) F. Ide Jr., passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, after a long health battle.

He was born on November 30, 1942. The first born to Bernard (Bunny) F. Ide Sr. and Edna (Barker) Ide. He lived in Fitchburg his entire life. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1960. He joined the US Air Force after graduating high school and spent four years in service to his country.  He was stationed in Port Ianis, OR where he met his now former wife Billie Fay (Barrett) Ide and started his family.

After returning from active duty in 1964, he went to work for H&H Scott Stereo in Maynard, MA until they closed in 1971. Bernard then worked for General Electric in Fitchburg, MA for 27 years until he retired in 1998.
He was an avid Boston Sports fan and was deeply involved in his children’s sports activities, even into adulthood! He loved vacationing in York Beach, Maine. He was a summer resident at Camp Eaton for 35 years and was the un-official Mayor of Camp Eaton!

He leaves behind his four children Jeffrey Ide and his wife Joanne, Christopher Ide and his wife Christine, James Ide and daughter Kelly Ide, his grandchildren Jennifer Cormier, Jonathan Ide, Brianne Costa, Emily Ide, James (Jay) Ide, Madison Ide, John (Jack) Ide, and Olivia Ide, his great grandchildren Savanna Cormier, Lucas Cormier, Isabel Correa, Vincent Correa, Jaxon Halfkenny and Wyatt Kavanagh, Luna Ide and Lyra Ide. He also leaves behind a sister Gail Ide and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Jane Ide.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Skip for a period of visitation on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. Fitchburg, MA 01420, from 10:00am until 12:00pm.
