Bernard K. Keohan, belovedly known as Bernie, departed this life on August 9, 2026. Born on February 6, 1939, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the son of Edmond Keohan and Ann (Fenton) Keohan. He spent his entire life in the town he loved, leaving an indelible mark on the community and all who knew him. Bernard was a loving, thoughtful, and supportive man, always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word. He had a zest for life that was contagious and brought warmth to any room he entered.

Bernard's professional life was marked by his dedication and commitment to Harvard University, where he served as the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for 35 years before his retirement. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his contributions to the institution were invaluable. Beyond his professional commitments, he was a passionate golfer and a respected member of several clubs, including the New England Sports Turf Management Association, the Irish American Club, and the Knights of Columbus #99. Bernard also proudly served in the Army, stationed in Würzburg, Germany, an experience that shaped his character and his worldview.

Family was the cornerstone of Bernard's life. He leaves behind his loving wife, Patricia, and his devoted sons, Daniel (Laurie) Keohan and Michael (Heather) Keohan. His grandchildren, Hannah, Matthew, Sean, Kelsie, and Nicholas, will always remember their grandad's warm smiles and the stories he would tell. He also leaves behind his brother, Edmund (Rosemary) Keohan, his sister, Evelyn Keohan, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Mahar and Kathleen Keohan Montesion.

Calling hours will be on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg, MA. The burial will follow at 1:00 pm at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.
