Bel Air, MD - Cara L. Giacomozzi, 63 passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2025.

Born in Fitchburg on March 18, 1961, the eldest daughter of the late Dino and Patricia (Hancock) Giacomozzi. Cara attended St Anthony’s Elementary School, St Bernard’s CCHS and Fitchburg High School.

In her younger years Cara marched with the Kingsmen Drum and Bugle Corp and enjoyed playing softball. She later coached softball in Maryland.

After living in Fitchburg and then Worcester for many years, Cara relocated to Maryland in 1991 and attended Harford Community College in Bel Air, where she completed pre-nursing school requirements and became a certified EMT.

Cara was a Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan but always remained true to New England sports.

Cara started her career in painting in 1981 and joined the Painters Union. Painting soon became her passion. She established her own business Cara & Company and later Cara Giacomozzi Expert Painting, which she ran for nearly 45 years.

Her talents included all aspects of painting, interior design, and general contracting. She was always willing to help friends or family with their projects. There was nothing she couldn’t do.

Cara is survived by her two sisters, Lorna Brooks and husband David, and Gina Giacomozzi-Hanley and husband Bill. Her nephews and nieces Derek Brooks and wife Kimberly, Courtney Brooks, Valerie Hanley and William Hanley. Great nephew and niece Sandino Brooks and Sadie Fay Brooks all of Fitchburg.  Her longtime best friend Deanna (Dee) Williams and husband Wendol and their sons. Debbie Carroll and husband Dave and their children Dustin & Dana, and many friends that were her family in Bel Air, MD.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 2- 4 pm at Brandon Funeral Home 305 Wanoosnoc Rd, Fitchburg. The Funeral mass will be held Monday, March 17, 2025, at 11:00 am at St Anthony’s of Padua Church 84 Salem St, Fitchburg. Burial will be private.
