Carole Joy Croteau, a loving and compassionate beacon of light, left us on June 1, 2026, to join the angels above. Born in Wakefield, MA, on April 15, 1945, Carole spent her glorious 81 years touching the hearts of everyone she met with her generous spirit and supportive nature. For many years, she was known as Mrs. C by her children’s friends, and she loved her house full of fun and laughter. What mattered most to Carole was her family, and she devoted her life to creating a safe and nurturing home.
Carole was a strong and devout Catholic who found solace and peace in her faith. She spent many years giving to the church and tried to instill that faith in her children. Carole worked as a secretary and was part owner of Bob Croteau Plumbing and Heating alongside her husband, and her hard work and dedication were apparent in all she did. She also worked for Patrick Egan Plumbing and Heating up to her retirement. Outside of work, Carole had a passion for cooking and loved to travel. She was always ready to set out on an adventure, exploring new places with friends and creating wonderful memories.
Carole is survived by her beloved children, Daryn Croteau and wife Lori of Sterling, MA, Heidi Sharron and husband Jason of Ashburnham, MA, and daughter-in-law Renee Croteau of Leominster, MA. Carole is also survived by her six grandchildren, Benjamin, Julia, Nathan, Alivia, Emily, and Alexander; her sister, Shirley Garbino; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Croteau, and her cherished son, Gregory Croteau. Also preceding her in death were her parents, John and Annette Figucia, as well as many siblings. Although her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her memory will forever be a guiding light, reminding us to live with love, compassion, and generosity.
Please join us to celebrate Carole’s life at St. Anthony’s Church at 84 Salem St., Fitchburg, MA, at 11:30 AM on Friday, June 5, 2026. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
We encourage you to share your fond memories, stories, and pictures of Carole on the memorial page. Your shared experiences will help keep her spirit alive and serve as a comforting reminder of the incredible woman she was.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Autumn Hospice. Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, will be handling the arrangements.
