Daniel J. Flynn

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Daniel J. Flynn, affectionately known by many as Dan, Danny, Hopper, Coach, Dad, or Grampie. Born on March 30, 1951, in Fitchburg, MA. He was beloved by all who knew him.

Daniel attended Fitchburg High School Class of 1969 and continued his education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he graduated Cum Laude. He then started his career as a Finance Manager at Digital where he worked for 30+ years. His love for sports was evident, not just in the way he passionately played, but also how he coached others. He was an avid reader with a keen interest in history, often seen engrossed in documentaries or traveling to historical places. As an NCAA basketball fanatic, his annual attendance at the games became a cherished tradition. His commitment to serving others was evident in his co-chairmanship of the prostate cancer support group at UMass Hospital and his active participation in his high school and college reunion committees. Yet, what mattered most to Daniel were his family and friends, for whom his love was boundless. He saved every single greeting card he ever received.

Daniel leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his loving daughter Meghan Curtis and her husband Steven Curtis Jr, his caring brother Stephen Flynn and his wife Sandra Flynn, his loving sister Nancy Flynn, his sister-in-law Joyce Flynn, and his grandson Rory Daniel Curtis who held a special place in his heart. He is also remembered by his former wife Susan Flynn and his significant other Judith Urda. Daniel was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Edith Flynn and his brother Thomas M Flynn.

Services will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 at 12 pm in the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10 am - 12 pm.
