David A. Buckley

June 13, 1951 — March 29, 2024

Leominster, MA

With a spirit as boundless as the skies he loved to explore, David A. Buckley, known fondly as Buck, embarked on his final adventure on March 29, 2024, after his 4 year courageous battle with Vascular Dementia. Born on June 13, 1951, in Fitchburg, MA, Buck was a captivating character who lived his 72 years with an adventurous spirit and a compassionate heart. His charisma lit up every room, and his sense of humor was as vast as the oceans he adored. He was a FHS graduate of class 1969 and a devoted member of the swim team.

Buck was a man of many passions. He pursued them all with vigor, whether it was his work as a bartender for over 15years, Service Technician at Verizon, where he dedicated many years, and was immensely involved in the IBEW Local 2325 Union, before his retirement in 2009, or his hobbies, which painted a vibrant picture of his character. An avid birder, Buck found peace and joy in the great outdoors, be it hiking in the heart of nature or cheering on his beloved Boston sports teams. His love for the ocean drew him repeatedly to Maine and Cape Cod, where he found serenity in long walks on the beach with his beloved wife, Clare, whom he married on February 7, 1988. This adventurous spirit was perfectly balanced by his love for the warmth of home, where he was known to whip up delicious meals, adding a splash of love in every dish.

Buck was a man who cherished his relationships above all else. His loyalty was unwavering, his generosity immense, and his wit unforgettable. His thoughtfulness was a beacon for those who knew him, making him a friend as much as a brother or a husband. His love and laughter will be carried forward by his wife, Clare (Rich) Buckley, his brother, Tim Buckley and his wife Melinda, and his sisters, Cheryl Waeger, Gail Bourque and her husband Paul, and Maureen (Moe) Heikkila and her husband Miki, and brothers-in-law Paul Rich and his wife Dolly. and Robert Rich. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews will deeply miss Uncle Buck. He now joins his parents, Robert and Bettina Buckley, along with his brothers-in-law Peter Waeger, Joseph Rich, Henry Rich, John Rich, Peter Rich, James Rich, and sisters-in-law Dolores DeVellis, Catherine (Tina) Terravecchia, on a journey beyond the stars.
