The funeral will be held Monday, January 23, 2023 from Brandon Funeral Home with a Mass at 10 am in St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-6 pm. Burial is private.
David C Egeland Sr was born in Nuremburg, Germany on December 8, 1962, while the late Roger and Delma (Callamore) Egeland served in the US Army.
He was a loyal Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins fan. He watched NASCAR each week, routing for #22 Joey Logano. Each Spring he was filled with joy to see the gardens bloom. Spring also meant it was time for fishing which was one of David’s favorite pastimes. He retired from Danvers Ford as a Commercial Accounts Manager. He was a commercial flight instructor, previous Ashby Little League president, and board member and coach of the Leominster Babe Ruth.
He leaves his wife of 40 years Amy J (Leach) Egeland of Ashby; his three children, sons Stephen D Egeland of Gardner, David C Egeland Jr of Ashby, and daughter Elizabeth A.D. Egeland of Ashby. Also a daughter in law Sarah E (Berry) Egeland married to Stephen and their 3 children Chelsea Egeland, Cameron Egeland and Kinsley Egeland all of Gardner; and son in law Joseph Poirer of Ashby.
David was the 2nd oldest of 8 siblings including: Sandra Egeland, John Egeland, Michael Egeland, Sue Axelrod, Cheryl Alonso, and is preceded by William Egeland and Daniel Egeland.
The Egeland family is grateful to nurses Jessy and Caitlyn of Care Central for the loving care they provided David over the years. They meant the world to David.
