David J. McNamara 58

Fitchburg – David J. McNamara, 58 of Fitchburg passed away tragically on Saturday, July 14, 2018 in his home from a fatal fall.

David was born in Fitchburg, MA, the son of Everett J. and Claire D. McNamara.

David is a 1978 graduate of St. Bernard’s High School and a 1980 graduate of Mount Wachusett Community College. David worked as the grounds keeper at St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg upon graduation. David also worked side by side for many years with his father at the family owned E.M. Offset Printing, which he eventually took over and owned and operated for many years. After the digital age arrived, David sold his printing business and started P & E Vending with his brother Paul, which David ran for twenty-five years until suffering a stroke in 2005 forcing him to sell his business. David quickly recovered from his stroke and returned to the workforce where he went to work for the Massachusetts’ Bay Commuter Railroad (now Keolis) where he began as a ticket sales representative and quickly moved up the ranks to conductor. In 2014, David fell from a ladder suffering a near fatal traumatic brain injury. David fought hard each day to regain his strength and abilities in the hope of returning to work for the railroad, a job he loved. Unfortunately, David’s fight ended when he suffered a fall in his home which lead to his untimely death.

David’s family was his passion and love. He helped his parents and enjoyed time gardening and working with his father. He passed his passion for gardening onto his nieces and nephews who were often enthralled with his storytelling while gardening with him. One of his greatest joys was yearly taking his nieces and nephews to the New York Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Golf was another passion of David, who enjoyed annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach with his brother and friends as well as annual trips to CA to visit his brothers and play golf. David also enjoyed golfing with friends, new and old, at Westminster Country Club, where he was a long time member. It was a home away from home for him. David enjoyed the St. Joseph Club, where he was a lifetime member, and the Knights of Columbus.

David is survived by his mother Claire (Caron) McNamara of Fitchburg; three brothers, James McNamara and wife Tricia of Fitchburg, E. Peter McNamara and wife Margaret of Alameda, CA, Paul McNamara and wife Dianna of Fitchburg; three sisters, Caron Kane and husband Robert, and Beth McNamara, all of Fitchburg, Pamela Raymond and husband Scott of Westminster; nephews Bradley McNamara and wife Erica of Lunenburg, Zachary and Ryan Kane, all of Fitchburg, and Owen Raymond of Westminster; nieces Kayla Wright and husband Eldred, Haley, Paige and Megan McNamara, all of Fitchburg, Monica McNamara of Alameda CA, Allie and Courtney Raymond all of Westminster; and great niece MaKenna Wright of Fitchburg.

He is predeceased by his father Everett J. McNamara in 2018.
