Diane Marie Bernatchez

Diane M. Bernatchez was born on September 18, 1947, in Fitchburg, MA. She was kind, warm, and a joy to be around. She carried herself with a gentleness and compassion that came from a heart deeply rooted in her love of Jesus. Diane was a wife, mom, Nonni, and dear friend. Diane left us on August 1, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Diane prioritized family and her faith above all else. Family events involving her children and grandchildren filled her calendar, along with weekly visits with her girlfriends. She took great joy in attending soccer and hockey games, recitals, and creating art projects with her grandchildren.

Diane was a Registered Nurse and retired from Heywood Hospital in Gardner, MA in 2008. She was compassionate and comforting to the patients in her care. She touched countless lives with her smile and healing touch. Diane was an active member of her community and, in her younger years, served as president of the local Women’s Aglow Fellowship chapter in central Massachusetts. Her hobbies included painting, socializing with friends, and spending time with family. Her presence will be deeply missed, specifically the selfless devotion she offered her loved ones and the unwavering support she shared with everyone. Diane's life was a beautiful reflection of her core principles: a life built on faith, centered on family, and dedicated to the service of others.

Diane is survived by her devoted husband, Francis Bernatchez, with whom she shared nearly 57 years of marriage. Her memory will be cherished by her four children: daughter Suzanne Bernatchez Fell and her husband Trip of Austin, TX and their children Sienna, Greyson, and Luke; daughter Lauren Bernatchez Moore and her husband Frank of Lunenburg, MA; son Seth Bernatchez and his wife Stephanie Rood Bernatchez of Fitchburg, MA, and their children Benjamin, Eloise, Elaina, and Thomas; daughter Christina Bernatchez Meuse and her husband Andrew of Athol, MA, and their children Kaylee, Mackenzie, and Matthew.

Diane was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Marie DiMauro, and her brother, Joseph DiMauro, Jr. Diane’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. We invite you to share your memories and photos of Diane on the memorial page.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home at 11:30 AM, followed by a burial at St. Bernard Cemetery, 96 Goodrich St, Fitchburg, MA 01420
