Doris M. Roy, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Coal Branch, NB, Canada, on June 6, 1938, Doris lived a life defined by immeasurable love, courage, and ambition. Her life's journey led her to Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where she crafted a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends. She was a woman of humble elegance, whose selfless nature and compassionate spirit were the cornerstones of her existence.

Doris's legacy is defined by her roles as a homemaker, loving wife and mother, and doting grandmother. Her kitchen was the heart of her home and was enjoyed by generations of family and friends. She was a creative and ambitious woman with a courageous heart, a beacon of strength and resilience who inspired those around her with her unwavering determination and steadfast love.

In her later years, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing time spent with her grandchildren and taking comfort in the legacy she had cultivated. She is survived by her three children, Paulette Roy-Varno and husband Kevin Varno of Fitchburg; Steven Roy and wife Carla of Baldwinville; Nelson Roy and partner Jennifer Merrill of Winchendon; grandchildren Christopher, Monique, Lillian, Zachary, and Nicholette; siblings, Mae Jones and husband Ronald Jones of Fitchburg, and Jeannette Crawford of New Brunswick, Canada. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Philias and Elizabeth Bastarache, and her brothers, Oakley and Roger Bastarache. Her absence leaves an unfillable void, but her spirit will continue to thrive in the lives of those who loved her.

Doris's family would like to thank the HealthAlliance Home Health and Hospice Organization for the unwavering support and commitment to Doris's care. Paulette, Steven, and Nelson will be forever grateful for the compassion and dignity that were provided to their mother during her final weeks.
