Elizabeth (Beth) L. (Lewis) Bowen died at home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a long illness. She was born in Boston in 1944, the daughter of Robert E. Lewis and Elizabeth D. (Mazzola) Lewis. She was married to John A. Bowen. They lived in Westminster for more than 50 years. Beth was the oldest of nine children. She was raised in Leominster and attended St. Leo’s Elementary School and St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg. She graduated from Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts, with a degree in economics.

Beth owned an advertising agency – B-Square Enterprizes – for 20 years, serving local and regional businesses. She then became a financial advisor under the banner of American Express and Ameriprise.

Beth and her husband were part of the ownership group of Whalom Park. She became a member of the Board of Directors of the New England Association of Amusement Parks in 1985 and served as its Secretary/Treasurer from 1990 to 1995; Beth and her husband John, were inducted into the Association’s Hall of Fame in 2014. She also served as chairman of the Awards Committee of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.

Earlier in her career, Beth worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph Company in Worcester as a corporate trainer and then as the Girls’ Athletic Director at Windsor High School in Vermont, where she also coached girls’ field hockey, basketball, volleyball, and softball.

Beth was a Westminster Library Trustee from 1974 until 1983, also serving as its chairman. She was also a member of the Massachusetts Board of Library Trustees. She was president of the Westminster Historical Society on three occasions. She had also been the local chairman of the Council for Children and a member of the Board of Overseers of Plimoth Plantation.

Beth was predeceased by her parents and her sister Christine Gagne. 

She is survived by her husband John, her daughters Heather Bowen of Fitchburg, Melanie Bowen (Josh Glazeroff) of Arlington, Virginia, and Allyson Bowen (Shawn Vincent) of New York, New York, and five grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Robert Lewis (Mary) of Gloucester, Massachusetts, MaryEllen Letarte (Richard) of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, Margaret Lewis of Kennebunk, Maine, John Lewis (Cathy) of Charlotte, North Carolina, James Lafond-Lewis (Cheryl) of Providence, Rhode Island, Thomas Lewis of Hampton, New Hampshire, Martha Lewis of Charleston, South Carolina and 15 nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church St., Westminster.  Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Westminster.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 3 - 6 pm in the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg.
