The funeral will be held from the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg with a Mass at 10am in Saint Joseph Church on Thursday, March 12. Committal prayers and military honors will follow in the Pieta Chapel of Saint Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 11 from 4-7pm.



itchburg – Emile J. Goguen, 81, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2015 in the Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Emile was born in Fitchburg on March 16, 1933, a son of the late Alfred and Beatrice (LeBlanc) Goguen. He joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Emile worked at Fitchburg Paper and for many years had his own appliance repair business. He was very involved in the City of Fitchburg for over 40 years; Emile was a dedicated politician who served on the city council. In 2006, he retired after 16 years as a State Representative, serving on the Ways and Means Committee. Emile loved to help people, which was reflected in his founding and running the Norman P. Valiton Shelter in Fitchburg.

In his younger years, Emile was an avid basketball player, he enjoyed all New England sports teams,  but by far the greatest joys in his life were his children and grandchildren.

Emile leaves his four children, Kathleen Koleros and her husband Peter of Fitchburg, Paula Blanchard and her fiancé Anthony Fortunado of Leominster, Mark Goguen of Fitchburg, Sheila Cregg and her husband Joseph of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Andrew Koleros and his wife Rebecca Schendel, Lauren Koleros, Jamie Blanchard, Matthew Cregg, and Erin Cregg; a great granddaughter, Grace Koleros; brothers, Bernard “Bud” Goguen of Leominster, Alfred Goguen and his wife Geneva of Portland, TN; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Constance (LeBlanc) Goguen; siblings, Hervey Goguen, Hilda Bedard, Raymond Goguen and Edith Maguy. Emile was also predeceased by his grandson, Jeffrey Cregg.

The family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation for the love and care shown to Emile by the staff of the Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
