FITCHBURG - Frances A. (Badagliacca) Simpson, 70, passed away on Saturday, August 12th, 2023, at Leominster Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 18th, 1953, in Fitchburg, MA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Salvatore J. and Agnes (Occhipinti) Badagliacca. Fran attended St. Anthony’s Elementary and graduated from St. Bernard's High School in 1971. After graduating, she embarked on a professional journey that included Safety Fund Bank and GE, where she met the love of her life, and husband for 46 years, Scott Simpson.
Fran loved to read, often juggling multiple books at a time, watching HGTV and Lifetime Movies, and following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She also loved to play games, including Cribbage and Yahtzee, which her and her husband played often, including the days prior to her passing.
Family was always the most important part of her life. She leaves behind her three loving daughters and their husbands: Mandy Koula and her husband Michael of Hubbardston, Ma; Katie Weldon and her husband Richard of Wesley Chapel, FL; and Lauren Viola and her husband Paul of Westminster, Ma. She loved being a mother and her pride in all her daughters’ accomplishments was never-ending.
Beyond her own children, Fran, affectionately known as Nonna, loved every day spent with her eight grandchildren: Hannah, Gianna, Ella, Deklan, Lexi, Juliana, Emily, and Evan, as well as her great-granddaughter, Sophia.
Fran leaves behind two brothers: Lee Brandon of St. Petersburg, FL, and Lawrence Brandon and his wife Elizabeth of Westminster, Ma, her Brother-in-law William and wife Sheila of Fairfield, CT, Brother-in-law David Simpson and wife Jill of Feeding Hills, Ma and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Jane M. Badagliacca.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 17th, at 11 am in St. Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420. The evening prior to the service, calling hours will take place from 4 to 6 pm at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd, Fitchburg, MA. The burial will be private.
