Fitchburg – Francis E. Driscoll, Jr., 77, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2018.

The Funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Saturday, August 25, with a Mass in Saint Bernard’s Parish at Saint Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Saint Bernard’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday, August 24, from 4-7 pm.

A scholarship is being established to benefit students of the Mahar Fish and Game Club. Memorial contributions may be made payable to: Ralph C. Mahar Regional School District, and sent to: Ralph C. Mahar Regional School, C/O Francis E. Driscoll Scholarship Fund. P.O. Box 680 Orange, MA 01364.

 



Fitchburg – Francis E. Driscoll, Jr., 77, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2018.

He was born in Montague, MA on February 19, 1941, a son of the late Francis E. Driscoll, Sr., and Mary Louise (Slattery). Francis graduated from Mahar Regional High School in 1959, where he played football, served as Class President, and was a founding member of the Mahar Fish and Game Club. Always active in his youth, Francis earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the first in Millers Falls; he later became a Boy Scout Camp Counselor. In his hometown church, Francis served Masses as an altar boy. He was the first in his family to continue his education, and proudly graduated as Class President of Stonehill College in 1963. Frank spent his career working in the specialty paper industry and retired as a Vice President of Marketing and Sales.

Francis had a passion for the outdoors, and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a skilled woodworker, an avid reader, and loved playing his guitar. He was very generous with his time and spent many years coaching local youth hockey leagues. Frank also served as a board member of the Fitchburg Sportsmen’s Club.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.  Pop cherished time spent with his beloved family; he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carleta (Sessions) Driscoll of Fitchburg; children, Denise Donnelly and husband, Patrick, of Longmeadow; John Driscoll and wife, Cory, of Madison, CT; and Matthew Driscoll of Templeton; grandchildren, Caitlin Dumais and husband, Corey; Trish Mariano and husband, Vincent; Alison Donnelly, Grace, Jack, and Flynn Driscoll, Colin and Sean Driscoll; sister Julie Driscoll of Erving; brother Dennis Driscoll and wife, Ginny, of Ashburnham; nieces and nephews.
