Galen G. Kleinfelter

August 12, 1961 — February 1, 2026

Fitchburg

Galen G. Kleinfelter, a man of many hats (and even more SpongeBob memorabilia), has finally decided to take a well-deserved break. Born August 12, 1961, in Lebanon, PA, USA, he spent his most recent years in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where he managed to cram a lifetime of laughter, love, and generosity into 64 years. Galen, a retired nursing assistant and proud Army Corps of Engineers sharpshooter, has left the building, but not before leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

Galen was a funny guy; he could find humor in almost anything. He was a kid at heart, with a love of cartoons and a collection of SpongeBob memorabilia that would rival even the most hardcore fans'. But don't be fooled by his lighthearted nature; Galen was also a loving and supportive father to his two daughters, a grandpa to his six grandchildren, and a great-grandfather. His generous spirit extended to his fiancée, Judy, whom he affectionately referred to as "Dowdy," his four cats, and his dog, Major. As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started," and Galen certainly got started on loving and caring for his family.

Galen was preceded in death by his parents, Galen Kleinfelter and Judith Demont. He is survived by his significant other, Judith Nolan, and daughter Lisa; his two daughters, his six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his four cats and Major, who we're sure will miss his generous belly rubs. As we remember Galen, let us recall another quote from Mark Twain: "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time." Galen lived fully, loved generously, and laughed often. He will be missed by all who knew him.
