James E. Beauregard Sr.

May 28, 1948 — April 6, 2023

Fitchburg, MA

James “Jim” E. Beauregard Sr. of Naples, Florida, formerly of Fitchburg, passed away Thursday April 6, in Fort Myers after a brief illness. He was born May 28, 1948, in Fitchburg, son of the late Francis and Muriel (Forest) Beauregard.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Susan (Charette); his children: James Beauregard Jr., of Fitchburg; Lisa Beauregard of West Boylston, and his only granddaughter, Sophie. He also leaves behind four sisters: Ann Federschneider of Newton, Marie Boudreau of Eastford CT, Jean Knowlton of Chatham, Amy Durette of Goffstown, NH; two brothers: Paul Beauregard of Plaistow, NH, Mark Beauregard of Stoughton, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated from North Middlesex High School in 1966. From Fitchburg State College, he received both a B.S. in History in 1970, and Master of Education in 1976. He taught Social Studies in Leominster for 34 years, beginning at Gallagher Junior High School and then at Leominster High School.

His love for his family, friends and students was only surpassed by his devotion to his wife. He had a delightful sense of humor and an uncanny ability to insert a pun into any conversation. He loved tinkering and could fix anything. He had numerous hobbies: an avid guitarist/bassist who played in two bands – “The Unconditional Surrender” during college, and “The Fireside Quartet” in the late ‘70s early ‘80s; an amateur radio operator with an advanced license (call sign KB1-AY); and a private pilot who enjoyed flying his V-Tail Beechcraft Bonanza. He also enjoyed spending summers in Wells, Maine with friends and family.

Calling hours will be held Thursday May 4, 2023, from 5-8 pm at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. Fitchburg, MA 01420. Funeral will be held Friday May 5, at 11 am at St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St. Fitchburg, MA 01420.
