Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service that will be held at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Saturday, April 7, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory can be made to VNA Hospice, 199 Rosewood Drive, Suite 180 Danvers, MA 01923 or to Compassion and Choices, PO Box 485, Etna, NH 03750-0485.
JAMES J. STANLEY,
Lunenburg – Jim passed away March 28, 2018 after a short illness. During his stay at the Rose Monahan Hospice, he was comforted by his devoted family and many loving friends.
He was one of six children born to Michael and Ann (Hyde) Stanley, both of Ireland, on March 2, 1938.
Jim is survived by his son Eric and his wife Maura Scanlon-Waxwood of Cambridge, MA; his brother Michael and wife Shirley of Hudson, MA; his sister Kathleen DiNardo of Stratham, NH; his sister Elizabeth LeClair and her husband Edward of Concord, MA; his brother John of Winthrop, MA; his sister-in-law Geraldine Stanley of The Villages, FL. Jim was predeceased by his brother Thomas.
He is survived by many cousins in this county and in Ireland; and also by many nieces and nephews who all felt a special love for their dear Uncle Jim because of his sincere interest in, and enthusiasm for all their endeavors.
His loss will be felt by the many students who were touched by his love of teaching and his appreciation of the many diverse cultures from which they came; by friends from his days in the Peace Corps in West Africa and his early days in the Seminary; by his neighbors; by the friends at the Insight Meditation Center and the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies.
Jim spent most of his professional life as a Social Worker and continued to serve and care for others both professionally and personally, all of his life.
