Calling hours will be held on Tuesday April 6th in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., Leominster from 4-7pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 7th. Private burial to be held later. Fitchburg – Joan C. Burns, 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 28, 2021. Joan was born in Fitchburg on April 21, 1939 a daughter of the late Harold and Bertha (Rahmberg) Burns. She received a Bachelor of Art Degree from Regina Coeli College, a Master of Education from Fitchburg College and later a Master of Christian Spirituality from Creighton University. A woman of great faith, Joan was a Sister of the Presentation of Blessed Virgin Mary for 35 years. She later worked at Ecological Fibers and Our Lady of the Lake Church for many years. In her spare time Joan enjoyed trips to the casino and playing Bingo. She treasured the time she spent with her family, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sister Margaret Miln, brother Lawrence Burns and wife Dell; nephews, Robert Cutler, Matthew Burns, Thomas Burns; nieces, Christine Boutilier, Cheryl Roy, Robin Mackie, Rhonda Cutler, Patricia Hurley, and Frances Wilbur; great nieces, Tasha, Krystal, Hannah, Erin and Ashleigh; great nephews, Jeffrey, Sean, Matthew, Jay, Jonathan, Trevor, Nathan, and Jake; great great nephews, James, Caleb, Lucio, and Santino; great great nieces, Kaitlin, Megan, Ella and Jamie.
