Joan Carol Courtney, a spirited, loving, funny, and generous soul, born on August 7, 1937, in Watertown, MA, graced us with her loving presence until February 28, 2026. From her residence in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Joan's warm heart and infectious laughter touched lives far beyond her immediate locality. Widowed from Daniel, her beloved husband of over 50 years, Joan was a beacon of love and strength to her family, friends, and anyone fortunate to cross her path.

Joan found joy in music (Elvis in particular), going to the movies with friends, and assembling puzzles and playing word games in her later years. She always enjoyed having friends and family at the house, engaging in heartfelt conversations with loved ones. Her employment history was as varied as her interests, encompassing roles as a radiology assistant, daycare teacher, receptionist, and retail worker. No matter the job title, Joan infused every role with her unique blend of humor and professionalism, making a lasting impact on her colleagues and customers.

Despite her professional accomplishments, Joan always maintained that her most significant roles were those of a loving wife and mother. Her strong belief in God guided her as she nurtured her family, watching it grow and blossom over the years. Her sons, Darrin, with his wife Lori, and Dan, with his wife Jayne, together with her three beautiful granddaughters, Monica, Caroline, and Chloe, were the center of her universe. Even in her absence, her legacy of love, resilience, and humor continues to inspire and guide them.

Joan was a woman of indomitable spirit; tell her she couldn't do something, and she would light up with the challenge, ready to prove you wrong. Her smile, witty quips, and heartfelt laughter were her trademarks, and she will be fondly remembered for her zest for life and unwavering resilience.
