John David Edwards

On Sunday, May 31st, 2026, Corrections Officer John David Edwards unexpectedly passed away at the age of 56. 

His career with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections began at MCI Concord until its closing, and then continued at NCCI Gardner for a total of 28 years. John was a private man who enjoyed spending time with his family, the outdoors, hunting and fishing, as well as listening to music and playing his guitars. He spent as much time as possible doing all those things in his "happy place", at his cabin in Maine.

John was born on July 29th, 1969, in Wareham, MA. He is survived by his loving wife, Jana (Eldridge) Edwards, and their four children, Jacquelyn (Edwards) Jagielski and her husband, Alexander Jagielski, from Sandwich, Julianna (Edwards) Lirette and her husband, Joseph Lirette, from Manchester, NH, Jaymi Edwards from Athol, and Jenny Edwards from Ashby. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael & Robin(Cheney) Edwards, his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (Edwards) & Daniel Bazinet, and his brother Joseph Edwards, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

John now joins his parents, Fred & Loretta (Padduck) Edwards, as well as his brother Robert Edwards, in eternal peace.

Services will be held at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 10 am to 1 pm.
