Joyce Sheila Hunter

Fitchburg-Joyce Sheila (Rubin) Hunter, 72, died Saturday, July 8, 2023, at her home after an illness. 

She leaves, her two sons, Louis Hunter and his wife Ebru of Long Island, NY, and Michael Hunter of Los Angeles, CA, and her companion of 34 years, George McGee of Fitchburg; one sister, Paula Rubin of Bridgewater; one nephew, Mathew, and two nieces Alysa and Rachel. 

She was born in Boston, on January 6, 1951, a daughter of the late Louis and Ruth (Benson) Rubin. She was a graduate of Massasoit University with a BA in Social Work. She worked for Catholic Charities in Brockton. Joyce enjoyed the simple things in life, sitting on the porch watching the sunset, a good movie, her plants and flowers. She especially loved her neighbor's dog and giving her treats.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. in the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA 0140. 

Burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery, 115 Mt. Elam Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
