Katherine S. (Pentzakis) Christy, 83, passed away on September 6, 2021, in Sterling Village, after a lengthy illness. “Keti” was born on September 20, 1937, in Heraklion, Crete, but her family moved to Athens in 1962. After college, she worked as a legal secretary in Athens until 1968, when she came to Leominster after her marriage to Steven Christy.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Keti had a passion for teaching. She began her career in the US at Fort Devens, teaching Greek to intelligence officers being deployed to Greece, during which time also earned a certification in Greek language instruction from the Hellenic College in Boston, of which she was extremely proud. She also taught Greek School at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fitchburg, taught Greek to adult education students in Leominster, and was a permanent substitute teacher at Leominster High School for nearly twenty years.

Keti was also devoted to the law. As a certified paralegal, she assisted her husband Steven in his work as a Justice of the Peace and counseling individuals on immigration matters. After Steven’s death, Keti became a Justice of the Peace and a Notary Public. She was also very proud of her certificate in English as a Second Language.

Always in motion, Keti’s first concern was the care and comfort of her husband, children, sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, painting, needlepoint, and cooking. No family celebration was complete without a tray of her baklava or kourabiedes.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Steven, Keti is survived by her children, Christopher (Lisa) and Lea (Tim); her five siblings, Maria (deceased 4 years prior), Hresula, Hara, Georgios, Adoni, and Athena; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, who will all miss her dearly.
