Westminster – Kathleen “Kathy” J. (Shattuck) Dionne 66, passed away on Wednesday, September 15 at UMASS Memorial Hospital.                             Kathy was born on June 14, 1955 in Fitchburg, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Marilyn “Marney” (Swift) Shattuck.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Alfred “Fred” Dionne of Westminster, son, Matthew Dionne and his wife, Jennifer of Westminster, daughter, Crystal Neuschafer and her husband, Doug of Bolton, grandchildren, Rylee, Ryker, Reese Dionne, Carter, Chloe Neuschafer, siblings, Nancy Trainque and her husband, George of Florida, Larry Shattuck and his wife, Ann of Ashburnham, Marilyn Fuhs and her husband, Greg of Lunenburg, Maureen Bergeron and her husband, Michael of N.H., Mary Shattuck of Fitchburg, Michael Shattuck of Florida, and Susan Shattuck of N.H., sister-in-laws, Lorraine LeBlanc and her husband, Norman of Florida, and Pauline Miner and her husband, Dennis of Florida, and many nieces and nephews, all which she cared for deeply.

Kathy was formerly employed for many years at E&G Vending in Fitchburg, and while she was known for being an incredibly hard worker and incredibly generous with her time, she worked the hardest when it involved her family. She poured her heart into every life event, big or small. Her children, grandchildren, and sisters were fortunate to have spent many years with Kathy always creating, experimenting, and leaving behind new life through her creations.

For every holiday or birthday Kathy would create a game for the grandchildren, making each occasion extra special. She could spend hours in thrift stores looking for the perfect joke gift, which she would follow up with something incredibly thoughtful, and oftentimes handmade. Each grandchild made her proud for different reasons, and she was always extremely interested and involved in anything that interested them. From horses and silly social media videos to crafts and music, the kids knew that Grandma wanted to hear about it. And while she was very much on the receiving end of many jokes, she always welcomed being either the provider or the reason for the laughter.

Kathy loved spending time with all her family, no matter where it was. Recently, Kathy and her husband, Fred moved to Westminster next to her son Matt’s family after raising the family in Fitchburg. The family took many Summer trips together and Kathy and Fred enjoyed many a night at a casino.

Known for her deep love of dogs, Kathy’s most recent puppy, Avery will be lost without her and will forever keep her side of the bed warm.
