Kathryn S. Upton

Kathryn (Ann) Slattery Upton, affectionately known as Kath, departed this world on May 10, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion. Born in Queens, NY on February 13, 1944, to Margaret and John Slattery, Kathryn was a beacon of courage, strength and quick wit. She was an extraordinary woman, known for her intellect and radiant personality. Her compassionate heart led her to a fulfilling career as a registered nurse, where she served with benevolence and dedication.

Kathryn's journey in life took her to various places, including Alabama, Oklahoma, New York, and Massachusetts, but her heart was always at home with her family. Her children and family meant everything to her. Kathryn enjoyed traveling the world, antiquing, and collecting (lots of) jewelry. She held a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma, a testament to her commitment to her profession.

Kathryn is survived by her three children and their spouses, Susan and Steven Scapparone, Michael Slattery and Jodi Upton, and Jeniffer and Steven Gamelli; and her grandchildren, Grace Kathryn Gamelli, Hanna Joanne Gamelli, Kevin Michael Upton, Scott Joseph Upton, and Meredith Lynne Upton. She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and John Slattery, and her siblings, Gerald Slattery and Margaret Slattery.

"Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again." We trust that Kathryn is now in a place of peace and rest and will be waiting "on the wall" when our time comes to usher us in.

Kathryn's life will be celebrated during a Mass at St. Edward the Confessor (Westminster, MA) on Tuesday, May 27th at Noon.
