Sterling – Letitia M. (Smith) Slattery formerly of Fitchburg passed away peacefully at home  surrounded by her children on February 21, 2021 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard (Dede) Slattery and her brother Lewis Smith.

Tish was the beloved mother of five children: Linda Conry (Sterling), Brian Slattery and wife Barbara (Fitchburg), Jo Ann Slattery and husband Ken Simpson (Santa Barbara, CA), Jane Curran and husband James (Sterling) and Pete Slattery and wife Cheryl (Englewood, FL).

She was the loving “Gram” of Patrick, Kelley, Mathew, Shaun, Shannon, Rebecca and Molly.  She has five great grandchildren and three on the way as well as several nieces and nephews.

Tish was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Lewis B. Smith and Mary (McNally) Smith. She graduated from St. Bernard’s High school in 1944. She worked for the Department of Social Services until her retirement in 1991.

An avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan she loved spending time at the beach and watching movies. However, her happiest time was spent with her beloved family.

Tish’s family would like to express sincere gratitude to “our village”: Dr. Daniel O’Leary and team, Tippi Siaw and the entire staff at Manor On the Hill, Kristin Boucher and the compassionate caregivers at Encompass Home Health and the UMass Health Alliance Hospice team.
