Lillian C. Zanghi (Mercier)

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, with a calling hour from 11:00 am to 12:00 at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd Fitchburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at St Joseph’s Church 40 Woodland Street, Fitchburg.
Lillian C. Zanghi, 83, of Leominster, passed away on January 9th at Health Alliance Hospital from respiratory issues due to covid.
She was born on February 20, 1939 to Clarinda (Dauphinais) and Alfred Mercier. She lived many years in Fitchburg, attending St. Joseph and graduating from St. Bernards high school in 1956. She married her husband, Joseph Zanghi in 1956 and started a family. She eventually went on to have a career at the Telephone Company taking early retirement in 1997.
In her younger years she enjoyed being part of the Montachusett Ski Club. She loved to garden, shop and doing needle point. She loved traveling with her husband and enjoyed listening to live Jazz Music. Her biggest joy was time with family.
Her life changed when she suffered a stroke in 2006 and was bound to a wheelchair. She went through so much and never complained.
She loved her family and enjoyed every minute celebrating holidays, special occasions and weekend BBQ’s especially with her grandchildren. The past 3 years her great granddaughter brought her such joy. It made her smile and laugh knowing Ava wanted everyone to “talk like Mimi”.
She is survived by her husband Joe, of 66 years. Her son Perry and his wife Sharon of Lunenburg, her grandson Justin Zanghi of Portland Maine, and grand-daughter Brittney (Zanghi) Ducharme and her husband Tom of Lunenburg and great grand-daughter Ava. She is also survived by her son Anthony and his family.
She will be missed tremendously.
