Linda M. Nichols

April 5, 1951 — May 11, 2024

Gardner, MA

Linda M. Nichols (Gratton), passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2024. She was surrounded by the love of her twin daughters, Mae and Maggie, and their husbands as well as her beloved brother and his loving wife, Carl and Cindy.

Lin was married to Ronald A. Nichols, who passed away in 2010, for almost 26 years. Lin and Ron were best friends who were madly in love. They enjoyed cooking together, singing karaoke, swimming and entertaining wonderful parties with their family in their home during their marriage.

Lin was a loving mother.  She was a smart and intellectual woman. She had great creativity, bountiful generosity and a beautiful talent as an artist.

Lin was born on April 5, 1951, in Grasmere-Goffstown, New Hampshire. She spent her childhood living in Manchester, New Hampshire and graduated from Memorial High School in 1969. After living in New Hampshire for most of her life, she and her family moved to Gardner, Massachusetts in 1999 where she has resided ever since. While living in Gardner, Lin most recently worked in accounting at Aubuchon Hardware Corporate Office in Westminster, Massachusetts. She made many friends and cherished the relationships she made there for years. Lin was retired since 2010 and enjoyed being a grandmother to her beautiful granddaughter in her later years.

Above all, Lin cherished her family. They were the cornerstone of her existence, her source of strength, and her greatest joy. She was a loving widow to Ronald Nichols, and was devoted to her daughters, Mae Tagan of Fitchburg, MA and Maggie Sylva of Boston, MA. She was a doting grandmother to Madeline, who was one of her greatest joys. She adored her brother, Carl Gratton, who she considered to be her closest friend throughout her life. In addition to Ron, she was also preceded in death by her father, Ernest Gratton, her mother, Phyllis Sandford, and her sisters, Nancy Gratton and Evelyn Pepin.

Lin will have a memorial service on Sunday, May 19 from 12-2 PM at Brandon Funeral Home in Fitchburg, MA and a private celebration of life with her family following the formal service.

Lin’s spirit lives on in those she loved and in the lives she touched. Her memory is a beacon of resilience, warmth, and love. We invite you to share your cherished memories and photographs of Lin on her memorial page. In doing so, we ensure that her legacy continues to inspire and guide us, just as she did in life.
