Lorette Johnson

Lorette Johnson, 97 and 3 days, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Born Sunday, July 21,1929, in Leominster, Massachusetts, Lorette was the daughter of William O. Houle and Cecile Houle. She made her homes in Leominster, Ayer, and Fitchburg. A high school graduate and devoted Catholic, she lived a rich full life.

Lorette was the beloved wife of the late Walter T. Johnson. Together they shared many wonderful years, enjoying camping, and cruising creating cherished memories. Later in life she treasured traveling with her children. Lorette began her career in the Leominster Hospital kitchen before holding management positions at multiple local companies. She later returned to food service, working in the kitchen for the Leominster School System until her retirement. Throughout her working years, she was known for her dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.

She was an active member of the Leominster Council on Aging. In the past year at the Highlands, she made new friends with staff and residents spending time making crafts and puzzles to decorate and donate.

Throughout her life, she faced many challenges, including declining health and the loss of many loved ones, yet she continued forward with remarkable tenacity and feistiness. Once she set her mind to something, there was simply no stopping her.

She was an avid reader who also enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, dancing, and making puzzles. She especially cherished time spent with family.

Lorette leaves behind her four loving children: Nancy Citron of Herndon, Virginia; Patricia Gadoury of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; Jayan Landry of Wells, Maine; and Joseph Landry of Los Angeles, California.

She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Chris Gionet, Tobi Racine, Joe Leger, Annie Boutin, Elizabeth Dudula, Ben Citron, and Matt Citron. She is also survived by many cherished great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Lorette will be remembered for her strength, resilience, unwavering determination, zest for life and deep love for her family and friends. Her strong will and spirited nature touched countless lives. Her legacy will live on in all who knew and loved her.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm, at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA.    Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Leo's Church, 108 Main Street, Leominster, MA, followed by her burial at Evergreen Cemetery, 360 Lancaster Avenue, Leominster, MA.
