It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Madeleine Marcoux, fondly known as 'Memere,' who left us peacefully on April 12, 2026. Born in Williston, VT, on June 23, 1933, Madeleine was a pillar of strength, love, and faith. Her generous spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Madeleine was an entrepreneur and the dedicated owner of Memere's Daycare for many years. Her compassionate nature was evident in her work, nurturing and caring for each child as if they were her own. She also worked at Merchants National Bank, Dollar Saver, and worked the voting polls in Leominster until she was 90 years old. Her achievements included earning her Real Estate Certificate; as well as serving as the PTA President at North Leominster Elementary School.
Devoted to her Catholic faith, Madeleine taught Catechism at Our Lady of the Lake Church for many years. Her love for her family was unparalleled and was the cornerstone of her life. She found joy in organizing family gatherings (especially her Christmas Eve parties and Family Reunions), and her hobby of collecting family pictures was a testament to her love for her family and the value she placed on preserving memories.
Madeleine is survived by her children, Marie Sandra Marcoux, Robert Marcoux, Margaret Rychwa (and her husband, Paul), Russell Marcoux (and his wife, Paula), and James Marcoux (and his wife, Kerreye); along with 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Azelda Lavallee, her 14 siblings, her son, Arthur Marcoux, her grandson Keith Marcoux, and great grandson Evan Marcoux.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 3 to 5 pm at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA. The funeral mass will take place on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 10 am at Saint Cecilia Parish, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA.
As we remember Madeleine, we invite you to share your cherished memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Her life was a testament to her love for family, faith, and community, and we honor her by celebrating her life and the profound impact she had on us all.
