Maria (Sardo) Baldassarre

July 10, 1939 — October 31, 2021

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday in St. Anna’s Church, 199 Lancaster St., Leominster. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter), 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, Ma 02452.



Leominster – Maria (Sardo) Baldassarre, 82 passed away on Sunday, October 31 after a long illness.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Maria was born on July 10, 1939 in Pietraperzia, Italy a daughter of the Giuseppe and Caterina (Pirrera) Sardo and migrated to the United States in 1962.

Maria is survived by her husband of 56 years, Giuseppe (Joe) Baldassarre of Leominster, son, Robert Baldassarre and his wife Velia of Lexington, daughter, Sabrina Napoli and her husband Sal of Boston, grandchildren, Peter and Sophia Napoli and Joseph Baldassarre.

She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Sardo, sister, Lucy Piermarini.

Maria was a seamstress for several clothing companies in the Leominster area after arriving in the US from Italy.   In 1982 Maria and her husband founded a ceramic tile and marble company called European Tile Designs, where she worked for 20 years.

Maria enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, traveling around New England, and visiting family in Italy.  One of her greatest joys came from spending time in the summer with her husband, children and grandchildren at their family home in Maine.  Maria lived her life with courage, always put her trust in God’s plan, and consistently displayed a positive attitude in the face of life’s challenges.
