Martha P. (Poirier) Bean
A memorial service for extended family will be held next month. Private burial will take place at a later date St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fitchburg.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to one of Martha’s favorite charities, Samaritan’s Purse, or to a charity of your own preference.
Fitchburg – Martha P. (Poirier) Bean, 98, passed away on July 30, 2021, after a brief stay at River Terrace Rehabilitation Center.
Martha was born in Waterloo, Quebec, Canada in 1923, a daughter of the late J. Alfred and Marie D. (L’Homme) Poirier; her family moved to Fitchburg when she was two years old. After graduating from Fitchburg High School in 1941, Martha went to work for the Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Company. She later worked for Parke Snow Department Store.
Martha enjoyed her time spent as a girl scout leader at Immaculate Conception Church and volunteering for Literacy of America.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Beaulieu and husband James of Auburn, ME, Susan Bean and her husband Ray Walton of Seattle, WA, Patricia Paliulis and her husband Algis of Hopkinton, Nancy Cormier and her husband KarlHenry of Leominster; grandchildren, Matthew Beaulieu, Sara Bruno, Neil and Erik Walton, Michael and Alex Paliulis, Kurtis, Jake and Philip Cormier; great grandchildren, Victoria, Alex, Sam, Tessa, Luca, Olivia, Tucker, Jackson, Fox and Alfie.
Martha was predeceased by her husband Robert H. Bean in 1996 and her son Robert H. Bean Jr in 2021, as well as her sisters, Irene Croteau, Suzanne Poirier, and Aurise Begnoche.
