Moultonborough, NH

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michelle Grace Hervey (Cornell) Gasbarro, a

beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Michelle passed away on Saturday,

August 17 2024 in her home in Moultonborough, NH. Born on July 23, 1949, in Cranston, RI, to

the late William and Frieda Hervey, Michelle lived a life rich in love, compassion, and service.

She was predeceased by her former husband, Everett I. Cornell III, his parents Everett I. Jr., and

Martha Cornell, and Mother-in-law Yolanda Gasbarro.

Michelle leaves behind her devoted husband of 43 years, Anthony Gasbarro, of

Moultonborough, NH. She will be deeply missed by her children: Melanie and her husband

Patrick Desmarais of Leominster, MA; Everett and his wife Tonya Gasbarro of Leominster, MA;

Julie and her husband Greg Mumford of Westwood, MA; and Anthony Jr. and his wife Erin

Gasbarro of Shelton, CT. Her nine grandchildren, Daniel and Claire Desmarais, Jacob and

Isabella Gasbarro, Sofia, Elena, and Vincent Gasbarro, and James and George Mumford, were

her pride and joy.

Michelle also leaves her siblings, Patricia and her husband David Martin of Warwick, RI; Jackie

and her husband Robert Lawton of Foster, RI; and William and his wife Donna Hervey of

Warwick, RI. Her extended family includes sister-in-law Marcia and her husband Jean Fortin of

Elkins, AR, brother-in-law Fred Cornell and his wife Rose of Templeton, MA, and brother-in-law

David Cornell and his wife Janet of Athol, MA. She also leaves numerous cousins, nieces and

nephews.

A dedicated healthcare professional, Michelle graduated from Cranston High School West in

1967 and pursued her passion for nursing at the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing,

Fitchburg State College, and the University Of Massachusetts Graduate School Of Nursing. Her

Her 44-year career saw her caring for countless patients at Burbank Hospital and Leominster Hospital,

and most recently, as a nurse practitioner at Dr. Robert A. Babineau Jr.'s family practice.

Michelle believed in serving others, guided by her faith. She volunteered her time with

numerous organizations, including the Messiah Lutheran Preschool, Trinity Lutheran Church,

and the Community Church in Sandwich, NH. Her leadership extended to the Montachusett

Area Rotary Club, the Rotary District 7910 of Massachusetts, and the Gbarnga Lutheran Training

Center in Liberia, Africa.

Recently she was an active participant in the Greater Gardner Relay for Life on the Angels’

Wings team. She was the 2024 top fundraiser as well.

Known for her inner and outer beauty, Michelle's warm heart and sincere smile touched

everyone she met. Her passions included bird watching, boating, motorcycle riding, and

traveling, which she enjoyed to the fullest.


The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the medical practitioners who assisted

Michelle including those at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Hospital in Lebanon, NH, Concord

Hospital in Concord and Laconia NH, Lakes Region Visiting Nurses, and especially, Dr. Carolyn

Crosby in Meredith NH.

All of Michelle’s friends are invited to a funeral service on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 am

at the Community Church of Sandwich, Baptist Meetinghouse, 12 Church Street, Center

Sandwich, NH, followed by a celebration of life and lunch at 1:00 pm at the Waukewan Golf

Club, 166 Waukewan Road, Center Harbor, NH.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the

Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA, followed by a celebration of life

and lunch at 1:00 pm at the Double Tree Hotel, 99 Erdman Way, Leominster, MA. Her burial at

Oak Hill Cemetery in Sterling, MA, will be private.
