With heavy hearts, yet a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Oscar C. Myles, a dedicated, funny, humble and loving soul, on August 22, 2025. Born on August 12, 1938, in Marianna, Arkansas, Oscar lived a vibrant life that spanned 87 years - years filled with love, laughter and remarkable dedication to his family.
Oscar was a man of many talents, a machinist by trade, employed in the wiring business before his retirement. Yet, his greatest pride and joy were his family. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a doting grandfather and great-grandfather. He gave a decade of his life to the daily care of his beloved wife, Melba, while she was in a nursing home, showcasing an extraordinary level of dedication and love. Oscar's warm, funny, and humble nature made him a favorite among family and friends. He was always ready with an amusing story, a cheerful laugh, and a kind word. His brother and best friend, James, was a significant part of his life, and they spent countless hours together in their later years.
Oscar's legacy will continue to live on through his children: Lasonya Hall, Loretta Algarin, Michael Myles, Shawn Myles, Oscar Myles Jr., Elizabeth Graham, and Felicia Myles. He is also survived by his siblings- Aliza Higgins, Pearl Kilbrew, Maddie Howard, Jessie Myles and George Scott. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Henrietta (Myles) Scott, his wife, Melba Myles, and his brother, James.
Calling hours will be held at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA, on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00AM. Following the service, Oscar will be laid to rest at the Evergreen Cemetery, 257 Main Street, Leominster, MA
