Paul Robert Gagnon

February 4, 1949 — May 13, 2026

Fitchburg

Paul Robert Gagnon, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, craftsman, and friend whose kindness and compassion touched countless lives.

Paul was the proud and loving father of Melanie Carey, (predeceased) by Brian Gagnon, Michael Gagnon and his wife Katy, and Nicole Gagnon. He spoke of their accomplishments often and with immense pride. He cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and, most recently, his great-grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy in his later years.

Born to Wilfrid and Rita Gagnon, Paul was one of nine children and shared a lifelong bond with his siblings: Bill, Raymond, Diane, Jeanne, Gloria, (predeceased) Joe, Andy, and Marie. Family was always at the center of Paul’s life, and some of his happiest memories were made during summers spent with his extended family at the family camp on Northwood Lake in New Hampshire.

Paul also pursued higher education, earning a drafting and architecture degree from Franklin Pierce University. Following graduation, he worked at the Wang Laboratories, where he participated in and helped design the third Wang tower in Lowell, Massachusetts, an accomplishment he carried with great pride throughout his life.

Paul dedicated many years of his life to the trades, where he became highly skilled in cabinet fabrication and finish carpentry. His craftsmanship, attention to detail, and strong work ethic earned the respect of those who worked alongside him. Beyond his talents, Paul was known for his generosity and willingness to help others whenever he could.

In his later years, Paul found great purpose and fulfillment at The Sundial apartment community in Fitchburg, where he worked to help open a kitchen that served residents in the building. He often spoke warmly about the many wonderful people he met there and enjoyed sharing meals, stories, and critiques of his latest recipes. His caring nature and desire to serve others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Many who knew Paul described him as a loving, compassionate, hardworking man who freely shared his wisdom and life lessons with anyone willing to listen. Whether through a helping hand, a thoughtful conversation, or a story filled with humor and heart, Paul made people feel valued and cared for.

Paul will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
