We gather to celebrate and remember the life of Porfirio Rodriguez Hernandez, affectionately known as 'Porfi,' born on September 9, 1942, in Juncos, Puerto Rico. A pillar of strength and unity, Porfirio was a creative force in every aspect of life. His talent was evident in the house he built from the ground up, a testament to his dedication and reliability. Porfirio took great joy in tending to his home, mowing the lawn, and working with his hands, always striving to create a nurturing environment for his family.
Porfirio was a man of immense talent, and his creative abilities extended to his professional life, where he worked tirelessly as a foreman in the machinery business at Victory Button. He was known for his dedication and reliability, traits that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Porfirio's strong work ethic was paralleled only by his commitment to his family. He was a devoted husband to Ana Delia Rodriguez Algarin, with whom he shared a marital journey of 62 years, filled with love and unity.
The essence of Porfirio's life was his family. He was a devoted and loving father to his children, Wanda Rodriguez Algarin, Marilu Rodriguez, and Rodney Rodriguez. He also shared a special bond with his siblings, Carmen, Hilda, Elba, and Jose Rodriguez Hernandez, who will forever cherish the memories they made together. Porfirio's legacy lives on through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Jamaal Dockery, Natasha Dockery, Billy Brooks III, Sashe Gonzalez, Jade Rodriguez, and Jete Rodriguez, along with the many other family members whose lives he touched with his love and guidance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael Rodriguez and Maria Hernandez-Cruz, and his brother, Junior Rodriguez Hernandez.
In the words of the Holy Scripture which Porfirio, a dedicated Catholic, held dear, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." - Matthew 5:4. This verse encapsulates Porfirio's life as a beacon of comfort and unity to those around him. We will forever remember Porfirio as a dedicated family man, a talented handyman, and a reliable friend.
