Prudence P. Parsons

December 15, 1953 — May 18, 2025

Lunenburg

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Prudence (Penniman) Parsons, of Lunenburg, on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at home and surrounded by family at the age of 71.

Known as Prudy, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Prudy was born to Curtis and Dorothy (Thompson) Penniman on December 15, 1953, and grew up on a loving and busy family dairy farm with her parents and 3 siblings in town. She graduated from Lunenburg High School in 1971 and from Fitchburg State College in 1975 with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education.

Prudy went on to teach at Monty Tech in Fitchburg for more than 30 years, retiring in 2012. During summers away from school, Prudy was a camp counselor at JCC in Lancaster and Mirror Lake at Devens. With her husband of 41 years, Rick, Prudy raised a daughter, Jessica and son, Eric, both of whom would describe Prudy as the best mother and grandmother anyone could ask for.

Prudy was often stopped by former students and colleagues while running errands, and always remembered their names and the details of their lives. Prudy is remembered by friends and family as a warm hearted, kind, easy-going, fun loving person who consistently put the needs of others before her own. Prudy loved to make others laugh, frequently dressing up and engaging in hijinks for no reason other than to bring joy to those around her. A lifelong Lunenburg resident, Prudy was heavily involved at the United Parish of Lunenburg, where she co-chaired the Education Committee, with the goal of creating and providing a quality Christian education program for the children of UPL. Prudy was an integral part of the congregation and made every member of the congregation feel valued. An animal lover, avid reader, reluctant but wonderful home cook, surprisingly talented artist (although she wouldn’t claim to be), and genuine breath of fresh air, Prudy will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Having always made time to stay connected with friends and family, she will be forever held in our hearts as one of a kind.

Prudy is survived by her husband Rick Parsons of Lunenburg, children Jessica Parsons of Worcester and Eric Parsons of Helena, Montana, granddaughters Nora and Lucy Parsons, siblings Scott Pennimen of Lunenburg and Marcia (Penniman) Garcia of Baldwinville, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Prudy is predeceased by her parents Curtis and Dorothy of Lunenburg, and brother Todd Penniman of Shirley.
