Ralph Italo Catignani passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on August 24th , 2023, after multiple battles
with cancer. The youngest of three children, Ralph was born December 27th , 1936, in Medford, MA to
Italo Catignani and Sara (Saise) who were both born and raised in Italy.
Ralph will be profoundly missed by his beloved wife of 53 years, Jean Marie. Their love and partnership
were the foundation of a long happy marriage. Together, they navigated life's challenges, supported
one another, and shared countless moments of joy and laughter. They lived in Peabody, MA throughout
their work careers and eventually retired in Conway, NH. Together they enjoyed the great outdoors
skiing and hiking. In addition, they loved traveling the US by RV and spending many summers at Abel
Mountain Campground in Vermont.
Ralph served in the Army from 1956 -1962. After his military career, he had a long successful career at
Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ralph was an active
member of the Knights of Columbus in North Conway, NH. He eagerly devoted his time and expertise to
charitable causes, embodying the Knights' mission of serving both the community and the Church.
Ralph's unwavering commitment to these principles truly exemplified his kind and selfless nature.
Ralph also leaves behind a sister, Lillian, as well as eight nieces and nephews (Marc, Paul, Simonette,
Peter, Gabrielle, Alexandra, Stefanie and Andrew Andreani), 17 great-nieces and great-nephews and 3
great, great nieces and nephews. From his wife’s side he leaves behind a sister-in-law Harriet Finnegan
and two nieces and a nephew (Kathleen, Michael and Julie). His sweet, kind, warm presence and
amazing sense of humor is imbedded in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have crossed paths
with him.
A memorial service to celebrate Ralph's life will be held at Our Lady of the Lake, Leominster, MA on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in his honor to (American
Cancer Society). Ralph's memory will forever live on through the countless lives he has touched, and his
legacy will continue to inspire kindness and service in the hearts of all who knew him.
