Fitchburg – Robert J. McClure III, 75, passed away on March 16, 2021 in Leominster Hospital.
Robert was born on March 22, 1945, a son of the late Samuel R. and Florence (Clayton) McClure. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1962 and later from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1967. After graduation Robert enlisted in the US Army; his military career spanned over 24 years, and proudly retired as a Master Sergeant in 2005. Having been trained in Software Engineering, Robert worked for Digital Equipment Corp. for 25 years until his retirement.
He was very active in his children’s lives, and involved in all of their endeavors. He enjoyed coaching Little League and being an Assistant Football Coach, all the while running his own handyman business, North County Services.
Robert was a man of great faith, and was active in several local churches, most recently K’vod Israel. He often volunteered his time, especially at Our Fathers Table. Robert, along with his wife, opened not only their doors, but their hearts to hundreds of foster children over the years. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lorelei McClure; daughter, Loralee Perry and husband Andrew, and their children, Deborah and Emma; daughter Heather Karstens and husband John and their children Alana and Ryder; son Jaime McClure and wife Juliana; brother Samuel McClure and wife Janet. Robert was loved by all of his nieces and nephews.
