Robert Raymond Norton

December 1, 1950 — June 5, 2026

Fitchburg

We join together to celebrate and honor the life of Robert Raymond Norton, affectionately known as Pepe, Dad, or Bob to his loved ones. Born in Fitchburg, MA, on December 1, 1950, Robert was a compassionate, loving, and thoughtful individual whose life was a testament to these qualities. He was always the first to lend a supportive hand, the first to listen, and the last to judge. As Charles Dickens once said, "No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” It was clear that Robert lived by these words throughout his life.

Robert was a dedicated and talented shoemaker by profession. He held this position at Anwelt Shoe Co in his beloved hometown of Fitchburg. However, his life was not all work. He had a wonderful collection of hobbies that he cherished. They were a reflection of his unique personality. Robert loved watching the Three Stooges, listening to country music, and was an avid fan of The Andy Griffin Show. He had a particular fondness for Slim Jims, a treat that brought him immense joy. But above all, what mattered most to Robert was his family. He was a loving and supportive husband to his wife, Janet Norton, and a loving father to Crystal Norton and Sylvia Mosher, and a loving stepfather to his stepchildren, Angel Tusia, Sandy Aker, Edna Smoot, Sally Doiron, Todd Stark, and Jennifer Stark. His family was his world, and his world was his family.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Norton. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his wife, Janet; his daughters, Crystal and Sylvia; his stepchildren, Angel, Sandy, Edna, Sally, Todd, and Jennifer; his brothers, Ernest and Ricky Norton; and many step-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory forward with love. As we remember Robert, let’s remember his words, his laughter, the love he shared, and the life he lived. As George Eliot beautifully said, "Our dead are never dead to us until we have forgotten them." Robert will always live in our hearts and memories.

Please take a moment to share your memories and upload photos of Robert to the memorial page to keep his spirit alive among us. Honoring Robert's wishes, there will be no memorial services.
