Scott Meloon, born on March 5, 1950, in Salem, MA, passed away on May 9, 2025, at Alpine Healthcare Center in Keene, NH at the age of 75.
Scott leaves behind a legacy of hard-work, dedication, and love for his family. He strived for excellence in everything he put his mind to. His commitment to his job led him to 30+ years of railroad work, ultimately as Roadmaster (supervisor) and retirement in 2013. He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather.
Growing up, Scott had an adventurous spirit which brought him to many places across the United States including Lake Tahoe, NV, where he spent time skiing and working at a casino. After high school, he attended University of Maine, Orono where he was an English major.
In 2002, tragedy almost took his life when he was run over by a construction dump truck while at work. He dug into his will to survive and pulled through the loss of a leg and break of his hip. Despite his injury, he lived life to the fullest, enjoying all of life's pleasures. He would jump at a whim for a vacation or a weekend away. He loved to splurge on meals, and was a generous soul to his family and friends.
He loved hunting, fishing, and in general, being outdoors. Working with his hands was a passion that can be seen in the collection of tools he owned, and projects he made, carpentry specifically. Scott was an avid golf fan, and made sure to watch the Masters Tournament each year.
Connections to his lifelong friends remained strong throughout the years. He attended annual golf tournaments with his TKE Fraternity brothers and reunions with his 1968 Lunenburg class.
In 2007 Scott moved with his wife, Linda, to Mason, NH, where they built their dream home. Land, space, and woods were the perfect environment for him to thrive.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda Meloon, his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Kelsey and Chad Cadran, and grandchildren, Sawyer and Lydia. In addition, he leaves his nephew, Bill Tapply, wife Bevin, niece Erika Ferreira and husband Matt, brother-in-law Rick Scarpignato, and several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Josephine "Jo" Meloon, and his sister, Nancy Scarpignato. As well as family, Scott leaves behind his best childhood friend John Cheeseman.
