With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Stephen Edward Milligan, who was born on March 4, 1956, in Old Town, Maine. Known by many as Steve or Stephen Vigue, he was an adventurous spirit, a compassionate friend, and a loving family member. Although he was a native of Maine, over the years, he also made Connecticut and Fitchburg, Massachusetts, his home.
Stephen was a bold and courageous man, evident in both his personal and professional life. As a retired Computer Engineer, he was known for his innovative solutions and his unwavering dedication. Even in his hobbies, Stephen was adventurous. He loved the thrill of riding his Harley motorcycle, the competitive spirit in playing pool, and the peaceful tranquility of golfing. His courageous spirit was also evident in his long battle with pancreatic cancer, which he faced with immense strength, grace, and courage. Stephen was a beacon of resilience and bravery, reminding us of the quote by John A. Shedd, "A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for."
Stephen was a man of deep love and compassion. Despite his own trials, he always had time for his loved ones. He was lovingly cared for by his girlfriend Esperanza Espinola, his brother, Philip Vigue, and his sister, Cristina Keegan. His family and those who knew him will remember his warm heart, his adventurous spirit, and his love for life. He was predeceased by his parents, Aleta Levesque and William Milligan.
As we mourn the loss of Stephen, we also celebrate his extraordinary life. Please join us at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA, to honor his memory. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 2 - 4 pm.
We encourage you to share your memories and upload photos of Stephen to the memorial page, so we may all remember the loving, adventurous, and courageous man that he was. Stephen may have left us in body, but his spirit continues to inspire and uplift us all. His life beautifully demonstrated the truth in the quote by Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us."
