Thomas C. Martin Sr., 88, of Fitchburg, MA died on December 1st, surrounded by his family who loved and adored him.

Tom was born on February 19th,1936 and was the third son of Harvey F. and Helen (Dempsey) Martin of Sterling, MA. He was predeceased by his parents, his older brothers John and Frank, and his first-born child.

Tom graduated from St. Bernard’s High School where he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, and St. Anselm College where he played four years of basketball. He was a local IAABO Board 44 basketball referee for over forty years and shared his love of the game with many others. Tom retired from Worcester County Engineering Department where he enjoyed his time working outdoors in service to the community. In his post-retirement years, he was up early to drive his school bus. Not one to slow down, Tom spent his time attending family celebrations, games, graduations, birthdays, recitals, and more; his goal was to be present for those he loved.

A man of deep faith, Tom believed in the power of prayer and believed tomorrow would bring a better day. He loved vacationing down the Cape, taking a ride to Maine with his wife, floating in the ocean, maintaining the pool for his kids and grandkids and great grandchildren to enjoy, sharing a meal with loved ones, and raising a glass to health and peace.
