Valentin Ramos

Along with countless friends and comrades, Valentin was a great part of his community to which he made a lasting impression and where his laughter, love and presence will be greatly missed. Calling hours will be Wednesday December 26th from 1-6pm in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg. Out of respect to the family the burial will be private.
Fitchburg – Valentin “Juny” Ramos, 49, of Fitchburg passed away on December 18th, in UMass Medical Center.
Valentin Ramos was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on October 2nd 1969 to Valentin Ramos Sr. and Lillian Santana. He came to Worcester, MA on November 9th of 1984 where he congregated at House of Prayer with his family. He then graduated from South High School and went on to develop an incredible work ethic in his first jobs as an assembler at a factory and short-term substitute teacher for the Worcester Public Schools. He was appointed to the Fitchburg Fire Department on April 5th 1994, and after graduating from the Fire Academy, he joined the firefighting family and began his career. In addition to his service as a fire fighter and local hero for the City of Fitchburg, Val first went to Oak Hill in 2001 on Group 3 Ladder 2, then to Engine 4 in June 2005 and back to Engine 2 group 1 as First Driver in July 2012. He was nominated “Fire Fighter of the Year” in 2002 and then again in 2007. Valentin loved being a Fire Fighter, especially the brotherhood and serving his community. Always a hard worker, Valentin worked for the Patriot Ambulance Company for 10 years as well as for MedStar Ambulance for 15 years and served as a State Constable for 2 years. He also enjoyed driving and washing his cars, riding motorcycles with friends, serving at his mother’s church the Dawn of Hope, dancing to, playing and listening to salsa music, Dunkin Donuts coffee, going to the lake, history, traveling and spending time with his family and raising his grandson.
He is survived by his parents and brother, Varry Ramos, his wife, Monica Ramos, his two children, Valerie and Victor Ramos and his grandson, Gabriel Otoniel Ramos.
Valentin was predeceased by his son Valentin G. Ramos on August 31, 2018.
