In Loving Memory of William “Billy” Clapper IV

There are moments in life that divide time into before and after. The passing of William Clapper IV—known to those who loved him simply as Billy—is one of those moments.

Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, on March 20, 1993, Billy brought light and warmth wherever he went. His was a spirit that couldn’t be confined by expectations or titles. He lived with authenticity, and at the heart of everything he did was a quiet but unwavering commitment to those he loved. His laughter came easy and often, and his smile—genuine, wide, and contagious—had a way of making you feel like everything would be okay, if only for a moment.

Billy was guided by a simple belief that he often shared with others: “Follow your heart.” And he did. Whether riding his motorcycle down quiet roads, casting a line while fishing, standing over a campfire or cooking for the people he cared about, Billy lived from the inside out. He loved country music, found comfort in nature, and took pride in the small joys that make life rich. A true New Englander, he was a passionate Bruins fan and enjoyed cheering on the Celtics.

But above all else, Billy’s heart belonged to his family. His son, William V, was his anchor and his greatest pride. His love also extended deeply to his niece, Sophia Quartarone, whose gentle heart and curious spirit brought him endless joy. His nephew John “Buddy” Quartarone shared a special connection with Billy—one built on laughter, loyalty, and the kind of easy bond that comes from simply understanding each other. Billy’s presence in their lives will always be felt, not only in memory, but in the parts of themselves shaped by his love.

Billy was a loving son to his mother, Angelina Hellijas; his father, William Clapper III; and his stepmother, Michelle Clapper. He shared a profound and enduring bond with his brothers, John Quartarone and Brett Clapper—a relationship marked not just by brotherhood, but by quiet strength and unspoken loyalty. He also leaves behind his nephew Colton Clapper, and his grandparents William Clapper II, John Quartarone, and Paula Quartarone.

He is reunited in rest with his brother Kyle Clapper, his grandmother Carol Clapper, and his stepfather Darrin Hellijas.

Also feeling this loss is Frankie, the loyal family dog, who was often found by Billy’s side—whether riding shotgun or simply lying at his feet. The two shared a quiet bond that needed no words, just presence.

To speak of Billy is not to list accomplishments, but to remember the feeling of being in his presence. He didn’t need to say much to make you feel loved. He led with humor, compassion, and authenticity. And in the words of Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Billy made people feel welcome. He made them feel lighter. And he made them feel loved.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday August 10, 2025 from 1pm-3pm at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA. Burial will be private.

In honoring Billy, we are reminded that a good life is not measured by its length, but by its depth. And Billy lived deeply, bravely, and with heart.
