William Curtis III

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our beloved William A. Curtis III, who departed this life on August 4, 2026.

William leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Nancy (VivoAmore) Curtis. He also leaves his children: Jeremy LeBlanc and Rachelle of New Brunswick, Canada; Jamie LeBlanc and Carrie of Leominster, MA; Carla Bernard of Ashby, MA; Justin Bettencourt and Cynthia (Cindi) of Templeton, MA; and William A. Curtis (Billy) and Stephanie of Phillipston, MA. He is also survived by his two brothers, Robert (Bob) Curtis of Plymouth, MA, and Steven Curtis and his wife, Carol, of Vermont, as well as his 16 grandchildren.

William was predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) Curtis Jr. and Rita (Pandiscio) Curtis.

William went by many names and titles—Billy, Big Bill, and Coach to all. Bill loved his home on the lake in Ashburnham, where he and Nancy raised their children and enjoyed years of outdoor life, family gatherings, and countless memories together. He loved the water and the outdoors, as well as sports, cooking, and gardening. Bill and Nancy also spent summers in Canada with their children and grandchildren and winters in Florida with great friends.

Throughout his life, Bill demonstrated the importance of perseverance, growth, and making the most of every opportunity. He shared these values through teaching, which he greatly enjoyed, and through coaching varsity baseball at Mahar Regional High School. He was always busy with a project or hobby, and whittling walking sticks was a favorite pastime. Bill enjoyed skiing, hiking, gardening, and cooking, and most of all, golfing with his sons and grandsons.

Attending his grandchildren’s games was one of the greatest joys of Bill’s life. He took tremendous pride in his family and loved being there to cheer them on.

More than anything, Bill loved sharing life with the people around him. He and Nancy built a beautiful life together, finding happiness in family, friends, and all of the simple moments in between. Bill had a great smile, loved a good meal, and was happiest when he could feed anyone who found a seat at his table.

Bill will be remembered for his strength, his endurance, his love of family, and the way he embraced life. He lived fully, loved deeply, and fought to make the very most of the time he was given. The lessons he taught, the traditions he created, and the memories he made will remain with his family for generations to come. He will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Colonial Hotel in Gardner, MA, on August 20, 2026, at 12:00 noon.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, his family and friends will gather not only to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life, share memories, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
